My clip broke off two and I just stuck a custom made metal clip on with
epoxy.
Now it's stronger than it ever was.

Yes I wouldn't mind a detachable clip especially now that we have greater need to lie it flat. Doubt if it would be possible to retrofit such a design change into cases already in the fieldd, but it's easy to see the benefit for future owners.
