Aha! Now I see, I assumed that when the box was checked, any audio was = sent as music, but now what you say makes sense. When you send mp3's, = and send as music is checked, they are treated differently than audible = or dtt's. Thanks. We are hiding those options, because they do not = =3D apply to music files. So, your inference that you can hit Send As Music = to =3D avoid compression is correct, unless you are sending a DTB or an Aubible = =3D file. Those files are always sent as spoken word content, and thus are = =3D always subject to any compression that is in effect, regardless of the = =3D availability of the compression settings for changing. Unfortunately, I have know idea what might be sent; I only know that in = =3D the case of plain MP3 files, the Send As Music check box works as you = =3D would expect, and those options should be hidden. So, if all you send = are =3D MP3 files, the UI is correct. If you send Audible files, the UI may be a = =3D little confusing. But like I said, if you want to send Audible and music = =3D files at the same time, you can simply check Send As Music, and be sure = =3D that the software will handle everything the best way. That is, music = =3D files are not time/pause compressed; Audible files are sent using the = =3D compression settings set the last time you changed them. Rob Meredith >>> Don.Barrett@xxxxxx 10/04/04 09:43AM >>> Sorry Rob, not sure what you are getting at. What I'm saying is that = =3D3D the Audible books were compressed and I didn't want them to be. I had = =3D3D assumed by the behavior of the software (hiding the audio options when = =3D3D send as music is checked) that this in fact disabled compression. If = =3D3D not, then why hide the audio options box when music is checked? That is = =3D =3D3D my real question. In other words, an action which hides a group of = =3D3D settings usually means that those settings don't apply in that =3D3D situation, but in fact they did, and the files were compressed. Am I confusing you <smile. Thanks. In short, = =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D Digital Talking Books and Audible books are never considered music by = =3D3D our =3D3D3D software, basically because they are books. If you think about it, they = =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D way it works is an advantage. For example, if you are sending music = =3D3D files =3D3D3D and decide to send an Audible book, you don't have to concern yourself = =3D3D =3D3D3D with the Send As Music check box. Rob Meredith >>> Don.Barrett@xxxxxx 10/03/04 08:58PM >>> I sent two audible books to the unit with the "send files as music" = =3D3D =3D3D3D3D checked. Unfortunately, to my dismay, they were compressed, as if "send = =3D =3D3D =3D3D3D =3D3D3D3D as music" had been unchecked and I had picked compression from Audio = =3D3D =3D3D3D3D Options. I really think that checking "send as music" should disable = =3D3D =3D3D3D3D any compression previously set when "send as music" is unchecked. =3D3D =3D3D3D3D20 Of course, if you uncheck "send as music" this should reinstate the = =3D3D =3D3D3D3D compre3ssion settings one desires.
