This is the right group.
First, not knowing your situation, I would say that a device with a Braille display would help more, such as the BrailleNote (www.braillenote.com), BrailleSense (www.gwmicro.com), APH Icon (www.aph.org) or some such device. If all you are looking for is audio, an EBook will not give you that; it is just text. You will want to put the entire thing on the BP, but as far as precise navigation to chapter and verse goes it will be hard. I have no problem accessing the bible on my BrailleNote, and if I want a passage read to me I just tell the BN to read it. If I want to read out loud I can look at the Braille display. The problem is that refreshable (electronic) Braille is extremely expensive, but (in my opinion) very well worth it. Sorry I could not give you a more helpful answer, but, in short, I feel that the BP will not satisfy the needs of your church member. I wish you and him the best in this.

Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [bookport] bible on BP

To the members of bookport freelist

I apologize for bursting in on your conversation but would
appreciate some
advice before purchasing a bookport.

We are a small church in country Australia and one of our members
is a
visually impaired gifted person whom we wish to train as a
pastor.

He needs to have the same ease of access to the full bible as the
rest of us
here do.

Do you believe bookport will provide that for him?

That is, can he go to any verse or chapter in the bible at the
press of a
couple of buttons?

We will order the bookport from the USA but where do we go for
the correct
format of bible?

Will all audio bibles give him equal flexibility as he searches
for chapter
and verse?

I gather there is a big difference between an e-book and an audio
book.

If I have addressed the wrong group, I apologize and would
appreciate it if
you could direct me to the correct group.
