This link will get you the Book Port Transfer software. I'm never really
sure, but you may need to re-register as a beta user if you've been one, as
I think this is the public and not the beta version of the software:

The file is over 17 meg in size and takes a couple of minutes to download
using my cable connection--looks like the APH servers may be slow.

None of those things.  I just updated the firmware through the bookport
software.  Apparently, it didn't complete.

What changed on your computer? Did you connect any other USB devices? Did
you alter the properties for whatever drive letter your BP is assigned when
you connect it?
