Ok, now by searching for:
nokia multi scanner download N82

via google accessible search, I found the following page:
http://symbianv3.com/nokia-multiscanner-recognize-texts-with-camera/

On that page, there are two links to download either a version in a .rar
archive:
http://symbianv3.com/wp-content/uploads/multiscanner_euro_v_1_1_8_s60_31.rar

or a direct link for the .sisx file:
http://symbianv3.com/wp-content/uploads/multiscanner_euro_v_1_1_8_s60_31.sisx

I tried sending that link to an email address configured for receipt on my
phone, but it didn't seem to like the link too much, so I just bluetoothed
it to my phone now, and when opened the message, carried out installation,
restarted phone, and it runs fine, in terms of starting and operating, etc.

I just opened the camera first, exited that app, then started multiscanner
itsself.

I see that it now has input language options for both finnish and english
in this version, but when I tried it out on a box of cigarettes which I
generally use when showing the KNFB reader to people, it again just came
back with garbage character results.

Will try maybe better lighting, and normal printed text etc., but lets see.

This is all on my N82 FWIW.

Stay well
