[blindreplay] asf files?

Hi,
What are asf files? The file types in folder options of My Computer just
says "Winamp media file". I scheduled a recording and set RAV to convert to
nothing/leave as is. But I was surprised when it turned out to be an asf
file because all the files I've come across before on that station (BBC7),
including previous episodes of this show, have been real media files. These
asf recordings sound quite tinny too.
