Hi Simon and list
Thanks for the info you all have shared.

Okay here's what I see in the sounds setting.
One option Voiceover says vibrate on ring and it is on.
The next one that directly follows it says vibrate on silent and it is on as
well. Before I change any of them, what are these both for? :)

I also see a section for Ringer and alerts and it has sound volume which is
at 100 %, change with buttons next to it, and it is on.

Thank you all for your assistance and guidance.

God bless!

Alvin

Hi List,

Yes the mute / vibrate / ringer switch is located above the volume controls
of the iPhone.

As steven said, if you flick the toggle switch to the back o the bevice the
phone will only vibrate if it's to the front of the phone then it should
ring.

However under settings / souds you can also turn vibrate on / off under
those settings. And in sying that you can also set the ring tone as a no
tone at all which will mean nothing is heard when the phone is called.

Just something to look at as another option.

Simon

Hi Stephen

Thanks for the info.
What you have said makes a bit more sense to me on what's been happening. :)

I thought I remembered reading about a switch above the volume buttons for
vibrate/ringer, but I can't find it.
Maybe it's because I have an ottervox case over it. :)

I'll look again, or have my mother look at it for me to make sure.

Thanks again and God bless!

From what I recall, you need to move the phone a way from your head. This
iwll cause it to switch to speaker phone. Then using two fingers, double tap

the screen to hang up a call.

To turn off the ring tone and to get the phone to vibrate! There is a switch

above the volume buttons you need to flip it towards the back of the phone.
This will then turn off the ringer and switch it to vibrate.

HI:
Are you familiar with the finger taps? You need to know these in order to
do a lot of these functions.
For example turning the phone off you have to two finger double tap in the
center of the screen
To turn the curtain on and off you have to three finger triple tap.
You can go to setting
general
accessible
voice over
 voice over practice
to get a handle on these
There is alsot he Look tell tutorial you can download.
You have to have the phone app open to get tot he number pad
I don't usually use the phone to cll automatic number..use a land line but
there is a way to do it but is cumbersome
Do you know about applevis.com??
There is a lot of useful information on there
Also, I can maybe send you some more stuff..I am not an expert but know a
little
Also, some people use a blue tooth keyboard to do a lot of this stuff...I
just do not but have one and keep saying I will get to it.
The phone is very useful for a lot of stuff...so stick with it..
it takes a while but you can do it.

Subject: [BlindMobileTech] General questions about iPhone 4S

  Hi list

It's Alvin. I am still getting use to using my iPhone 4S.

Some of the few situations I have been encountering are below.

I have been trying to figure out how to hang up the phone.

I usually find myself waiting for the other person to hang up first for
the phone call to end. :)

It seems that I can't gain access to the keypad by touching the screen in
order to end the call. Is there some special button I have to press first?

Also, how do I turn the phone on vibrate? The only thing I have found is
the sounds setting section that allows me to turn down the ringer's volume.
Is this it, or is there another way?

Also How do you deal with the automated service calls?

The one where they ask you to press 1 for this or press 2 for that. :)

I couldn't gain access to the screen to select one of the various options.

  One more question:

I haven't had this happen yet, but how would I switch over to another
incoming call while speaking to someone?

I believe I have figured out how to turn on the speaker. I have
accidentally hit the home button in the midst of a phone call in ended up on

speaker phone. :)

Well any info and assistance will be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, I'll go and take another browse through the manual to see

if there something I missed. :)

  God bless!

  AC
