There is another issue that is over looked. Men and women have different kinds of porn. Most women will say they have never looked at porn...which may be true. But most romance books now in days are very verbal porn. Men prefer plain photo type porn. Women want emotional issues with their "lovemaking". Also soaps are getting more and more close to porn too. I have a problem with who will be judging what is porn too. There are parts of the King James Bible that are very verbal porn. When it comes to kids I think parents are the ones who bring it into the home be it men or women's kind of porn. I have no kids. I saw a little photo porn as a child and had no interest in it then or now. I do love romance books, but I don't fool myself into think it doesn't have porn parts. There are a lot of books on everything from UFOs to god knows what. The fact that lots of people make lots of money writing books would not make me believe in or against anything. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Roger Loran Bailey Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2010 6:55 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: the adult content issue and check boxes I don't know anyone with that addiction either and I know a lot of adults who, as children, including myself, saw porn a lot more hardcore than Playboy. I think so-called studies like this come under the heading of pseudo-science. It is similar to the reports of playing classical music to plants which then thrived and Jazz to plants that then died. Then a few years later someone else plays Jazz to his plants and they thrive while the ones which had rock played to them died. I am waiting for the announcement of the experiment in which Rock was played to some plants while Hip Hop was played to others. If the experiments are conducted at all, rather than just reported, the results seem to coincide with the musical tastes of the experimentor, or more accurately, the person who reports it. There was another report of someone who prayed for one group of plants and cursed another group. Considering that the person in question was a priest I suppose you can guess how that one turned out. You can also see similar reports about the dire psychological consequences to women who have abortions, reported only by abortion opponents. What it comes down to is that certain people either make up or, at the very least, exaggerate effects to bolster their prejudices. I think we need an off-line Snopes to track these rumors. _ _ _ "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do.
