This is only the beginnings of an idea. I do not know the answers to some questions and those answers may determine if the idea will work.
First question is:Does bookshare have a way of putting a .rtf format copy of a book which is already in the collection back onto step if requested to do so?
If this is possible, then the copy could be downloaded and fixed up as a bso without an entire re-scan.
I know doing this task means more initial work for staff. It may be a way for books which need certain kinds of correcting to get the attention they need.
We also may eventually create some kind of flagging system. A reader may be able to go somewhere on site and flag a book's quality with comments. An idea might be "This book has all its pages. rn consistently replaces m. die replaces the. 1 replaces I.". Such a flag gives everyone feedback about the actual quality of books in the collection.
