Monica,

You shouldn't feel you let Julie down. After all, you looked for it the
next morning. Whoever took it let you and Julie both down.

Hi, Jackie. I agree with you that there should be a balance here. Some
books have been around for a very long time, and that's not fair to the
submitter or people waiting to read the book. The thing that concerns me
is that when a person takes a book with a hold for someone else, there
may be some issues that the submitter had communicated to the person for
whom the book is being held, issues that the person taking the book
knows nothing about. In Julie's case, I was supposed to work on her book
because it needed some special attention. Julie has the print book, and
we were both committed to making sure it was a clean scan that's easy to
read. She posted it in the evening. I went to step 1 the next morning,
and the book was gone. In fact, it showed up in the admin queue later
that same day. It's possible that someone did a really good job with it.
However, I feel a little uneasy about that because of how quickly it
went into the admin queue. I honestly don't mind that someone else
worked on the book as long as they were careful with the validation.
After all, the point is to get our books approved for everyone to read.
I'm not angry about it. I do feel sort of frustrated though and think I
somehow let Julie down by not moving fast enough.
