Dinesh D'Souza is an absolutely terrific author of non-fiction, essay and opinion works. I haven't read this book yet but I feel confident that I can recommend it to anyone, no matter their position on the topic, as the issues will be masterfully explained and beautifully described. He is often a guest on Book TV (CSPAN 2 on weekends) and is a regular contributor to the Washington Post and manages to criticize his "friends" and celebrate his "opponents" when he thinks they are either right or wrong. He told my favorite anecdote of his in a Book TV lecture and, I paraphrase: "I [D'Sosa speaking in the first person] was flying back to Washington from my family home in India. I was seated beside a young and seemingly well educated young Indian man. We started a conversation and he said that he had been awarded his green card and that he was permanently relocating to the US. I thought for a moment and asked why he wanted to move to America. The young man replied, 'I want to live where the poor people are fat.'" If anyone isn't already planning to, it would be great if anyone could scan "What's So Great About Christianity?" by Dinesh D'Souza. As I said, this one looks quite nice. Kelby Doomed Dragon It is quite easy for me to think of a God of love mainly because I grew up in a family where love was central and where lovely relationships were ever present. It is quite easy for me to think of the universe as basically friendly mainly because of my uplifting hereditary and environmental circumstances. It is quite easy for me to lean more toward optimism than pessimism about human nature mainly because of my childhood experiences. It is impossible to get at the roots of one's religious attitudes without taking in account the psychological and historical factors that play upon the individual. --Martin Luther King, Jr. If the people who started wars didn't make them sacred, who would be foolish enough to fight? --Rhett Butler True or false, that which is said of men often occupies as important a place in their lives, and above all in their destinies, as that which they do. --Victor Hugo It is not true that the saints and the great contemplatives never loved created things, and had no understanding or appreciation of the world, with its sights and sounds and the people living in it. They loved everything and everyone. --Thomas Merton --- Get FREE High Speed Internet from USFamily.Net! -- http://www.usfamily.net/mkt-freepromo.html --- To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
