Hi Kim!

When I have a book that I want to scan that is either comb or coil bound, I take the binding off so that I can slap each page of the book down on the scanning bed as individual pieces of paper, which I think is faster than having to position a book while scanning the next page or two, depending on the size of the book, so I understand why Bookshare would chop the bindings off and run the pages through an ADF, though it's a shame to have to destroy books in the process.

Hi, Debby, when I send stuff to Bookshare, they don't send the books back,
and for my part, I don't expect them to do so. As I understand it, they
remove the covers and chop the books so the pages can be fed through a
document-reader-type scanner. I think that's why people might send them a
lot of paperback books. (Pavi, please correct me if I'm wrong about this
one. I suppose you do the same with hardback books.) Regards, Kim.

Hi everyone!

When people send books to bookshare, do they return the print books or not?
