Hi Paul and all, Actually, in this case, I think what was happening was that K1000 was trying to match the word Pom to the dictionary and was coming up with porn. There weren't any other instances in the text where M was being recognized as rn. I see something similar often when I scan Spanish. The word comer which means to eat, regularly shows up as "corner" even when I have Kurzweil set for Spanish recognition only. So you end up with things like "salieron a corner" or "a la hora de corner" etc. Talk about an annoying error! *grin* Best, Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edwards, Paul" <pedwards@xxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 21, 2004 11:54 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Openbook users That is actually an artifact of the scan. You need to adjust the blightness setting because it is seeing the m as an r and an n separated. I am sure you know this but usually some adjustment makes it go away. I submitted the book Catering to Nobody by Diane Mott Daavidson last fall, which I'd scanned with Kurzweil. When I finally got around to reading the book myself this spring, I found the following, well, interesting error. There is a character in the book named Pomeroy, who is called Pom for short. Guess you can see where this goes. Pomeroy came out just fine, but throughout the text the guy is called Porn, whenever his nickname is used. *grin* Take care, Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: <talmage@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 21, 2004 10:01 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Openbook users > Hi to all the Openbook users, > > I would like to request that you go into your spelling corrections > dictionary, and delete com becomes corn.
