Monica and other volunteers, I also thank you.

I have asked Lisa and Pavi to email me with specifics on what I have said which they consider to be invalid. I have asked that we conduct the conversation via email rather than in phone conference. That way, we can each write well thought out comments. Lisa and Pavi can speak to any inaccuracies in my thinking of that of other people. After all, I am only one of many volunteers. Though some of what I say strikes Pavi and Lisa as inaccurate it may be what others also are thinking. So we can put any parts of our email conversation on this list which seems valuable to it once we conclude it.

Sometimes conversations do actually work better when written down rather than conducted via phone. This may particularly be true when one person is making statements the other two think are inaccurate.

Thank you Monica for that interpretation. The intent was certainly not to discipline or insult.

I am in conversation with Elizabeth offline, and appreciate both her commitment to the volunteer community and the good intentions behind her words.

All good things,

Pavi Mehta

Hi, Elizabeth. I can hear the frustration in your note. I know you're not
happy about things right now. I may be wrong here. I think Pavi wanted you
to know that she was involving Lisa to make sure these issues are addressed
from the very top of Bookshare management. Next to Jim, Lisa has the most
authority at Bookshare, and she's the person who assigns people to their day
to day work. I think Pavi was trying to honor you, not insult you. I could
be wrong, but I took her message as letting you and the whole community know
that she values your concerns so much that she's going to make sure the
issue is resolved well. By saying it publicly, she's holding herself to a
greater standard of accountability with us and with her boss. I know this
doesn't feel good right now, Elizabeth. I just want you to know that I'm
grateful for your hard work and hope this can be worked out somehow. Maybe
after some time meditating or some hot tea, things might seem a little
better. Bookshare isn't perfect. I do think they want to get this right
though.

There is strong concern on my part that you would post the below
message on a public list rather than writing to me privately. I also
am concerned that you have not written me privately specifying what
you mean by the below message. in specific terms.

Lisa and you may thinkof me as a naughty girl who does not deserve to
know the details until whenever you choose to have your conference. I
have contributed greatly to bookshare.

If it has gotten to the point where you need to send such a message,
perhaps I need to become part of the borrowing community and let the
volunteers work out their own issues without me.

E.
