Hi Caitlyn, Could you tell us, please, what version of Kurzweil 1000 you're using? If you are using version 11 of K1000, you need to have the "split long pages" option disabled under conversion settings. Not having this done can result in extra blank pages in your document. It is generally not recommended to convert back and forth between formats. I have on occasion converted to kes format and then back to rtf for final uploading as you suggest, but you need to make sure before you do this that the number of pages is the same in Word as in K1000 before converting. It is simpler to work with the rtf file in Word, if K1000 is giving you trouble, if you have limited experience bouncing between formats and knowing what to look for to make sure nothing gets lost in conversion. Sorry, I haven't had any coffee yet, and can't remember what pitfalls might await you if you convert to kes format. Not helpful, I know. I'll try to think more clearly later, if you still have questions. As far as I know, there is no way to make control characters such as page breaks visible like there is in Word when using Kurzweil 1000. However, if you would like to merge two pages, you can do so by placing your cursor on the second of the two pages that you'd like to merge then press control plus shift plus enter. That's an alternative to the erase page feature, when the second page is blank, though no fewer keystrokes. Hope some of that helps. This particular book has a *ton* of useless blank pages which I am attempting to get rid of. It also has some scanner extra chacters which I am editing out. I've read through a lot of this book and made the changes I want to make, and saved the file every time I made a change(paranoid, maybe??).. When I opened the file today, none of the changes "stuck". Would it be better to do .rtf files in Word, or would it be better to convert the m to a .kes file, edit them, then convert back to .rtf? Further, is there a way to trun formatting info on in K1000 so I could delete things like hard page breaks, etc, rather then hitting the "delete page xxx" key? Thanks!
