I know exactly what you're saying. Backstairs at the White House is not the
only book I've seen like this. I'm leaving it exactly like it is, since I
know you took great care in scanning it. *smile*

Hi, Lynn!

I am really thrown by this, too. Ironically the book you are working on and
the one I just finished never had spaces between any punctuation and an
ellipsis, so I left it unspaced. There were even occurrences of a question
mark or comma followed by an ellipsis or an ellipsis followed by a question
mark. To me, it should be situational and there should be a space between
ellipses and additional punctuation, but until I have permission, I do it as
it appears.

Further complicating matters is some of the books I scan have spaces before,
after or both with ellipses, and then none, too.

What's a girl to do? Grin.

I've been looking at the ellipsis/four period issue in context and will
continue to do just that.

Thanks again to everyone who responded.

I don't think it matters all that much. The way they usually scan for me is
with no spaces at the end of a sentence. The braille translator seems to
render this as having the ellipsis followed by the period.

Hi Everyone!

I know we've had several discussions on this subject and don't wish to open
a Pandora's box again.... However, I'm wondering if there should still be no
spaces when you have a sentence with a period, plus and ellipsis? I am
proofreading two books that have four periods, (an ellipsis followed by a
period). Should there be a space after the period? What's confusing is
whether the ellipsis actually occurs before the period or whether it occurs
after it. Hope that makes sense.

I'm asking because I want to be consistent; and be sure that I and the
Braille translator handle the situation correctly. *smile*

Thank you.

Blessings.
