It depends on where the chapter headings are. If they are in the middle of the page with text before and after then they do not really need to be protected. I suppose the three asterisks are there just to separate one chapter from another. If the chapter headings are at the beginning of the page then continue to protect them with a blank line. Again, here is the format for a page: page break, blank line, page number, blank line, text of page, blank line, page break. If there is a chapter heading at the top of the page then it should be: page break, blank line, page number, blank line, chapter heading, blank line, text of the page, blank line, page break. All of those blank lines will be stripped out by the conversion tools. The reason for placing them there is so that nothing else will be stripped out instead.

Hi Valerie and other friends,
Putting three asterisks is a new thing, yes. Also, I thought that we were supposed to âprotectâ chapter headings with a blank line before and after the headings. What are we supposed to do now?

Is the three asterisks a new thing? I was not aware of that and did not do it in my Kay Tracey paperbacks. I hate getting things wrong! I can fix it while I still have the book, if so; I think I remember which one it was...

Hi Laura,

Vivian is correct, please leave it as is and add the three asterisks!

I also had one where the chapter started on a middle of the page, but it was that way in the book. What I did was separate it by using the 3 asterisks.
