Hi Lissi,
It has to do with how BookShare stores their files. No matter what the submitter's filename is, the system will rename the file using the title of the book.

The underscores being used verses spaces could be done for a few reasons. One being that when file information is transferred back and forth to webservers it must encode spaces. Another might be that the operating system on which the server runs behaves much better with filenames without spaces. A final reason could be that programmers can sometimes have options for reading data that depend on whether that information has spaces or not. In general its probably done just as an attempt to avoid any problems.

Happy validating!
Jake

Dear Julie, Jane and Cindy and Volunteers.

Thank you, ladies, for your ideas on my file title question.

Does anyone know why there are underlines between the words in the first place? Why not just empty spaces between words?

Always with love,

Lissi

Lissi,

I'm sure I don't know why some books get through. I'm sure I have submitted books with an apostrophe in them before. Yet, this time when I removed it from the file name, it went through. One of those computer mysteries, you think?

Have a good day.

Jane
