I found myself in Cody Wyoming for a couple days, with no binoculars and no
real time to bird either other than for a spell each morning from my cousin's
30 acre "ranch", everything is a ranch there. And a little out the window of a
moving vehicle. Habitats included high desert mesa sage brush, mountain stream,
irrigated grassland, swamp/lake area, suburban haitat, no real forested area,
but a few cotton woods and Russian olive trees. They are having a very wet
year. At 5,000 feet the rain storms drag the ground. Highlight was young,
partly feathered, Virginia Rails crossing the gravel road from swamp to swamp
during the early morning hours, young cranes, and a bank swallow colony out
their back door.

No new birds for me, and I was surprised by the percentage of eastern birds.
