The White Lake, La. project is excellent and I enjoyed that article. Some of the best birding trips we have been on have been to the Fulton-Rockport area on the coast of TX. Birding tours by boat are offered that feature Whooping Cranes. Besides the 80 species of birds one sees on the 1/2 day tour, you will probably see around 60 whooping cranes in the wild in their preferred habitat in the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. Some of the cranes will be close up. The boat tour covers 60 miles or so. The cranes live in small family groups of 2 or 3 spaced about 3/4 of a mile apart. We like to camp at Goose Island State Park.
