I discovered that the WMA staff have mowed down all the briars and saplings on 
top of the dikes at the impoundments. Prior to their mowing I had not been on 
the dikes in many years. That is where I got the sparrows and flushed 3 
mallards.

Highland Creek and Fishtrap slough are where the Red-headed Woodpeckers show up 
in winter.
