The Somerset CBC held 29 Dec. recorded 77 species and 14,206 individual birds.

Highlights of the count included Sandhill Crane, 7 Red-breasted Nuthatches, Horned Lark (hard to find on this count), Palm Warbler and House Wren.

20 Fox Sparrows were found with most coming from along Fishing Creek where smartweed, etc. grew head high after the draw down of Lake Cumberland. There's probably 3 miles of so of that type of habitat from Oil Center to the Fishing Creek Rec. Area. We only touched one little area and were amazed at the number of sparrows and cardinals using it.

Only 1 Hermit Thrush and only a few robins were found. No Golden-crowned Kinglets were located compared to 43 last year!

Thanks! to participants: Judy Brant, Rhonda Bryant, Granville Cox, Steve Denton, Daniel Fleagle, Gay Hodges, Laura Kamperman, James Kiser, Linda McClendon, Lynda & Tom Mills, Kimberly Morgan, Scott Marsh, Arlene Morton and Stephen Stedman
