After hosting hardly any gulls all winter, the Falls of the Ohio has more than 500 this morning. There are hardly any rocks exposed but the birds are mostly sitting on the concrete wall out from the state park overlook and sitting around in the basin above the dam. I counted at least 93 Herring Gulls and an adult Thayer's Gull. The Thayer's flew off down towards the hydro dam, but I don't doubt that it will return. It looks similar to the bird that was above Markland Dam day before yesterday with a moderate amount of tan smudges still on the head and neck. This bird's legs appeared *slightly* darker pink than nearby Herrings at some angles. Also still at least 20 Long-tailed Ducks in the basin above the Falls. ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
