I guess just to spice up the summer doldrums, I will pass along that I received
a second-hand report of a "magpie" from about 4 miles "south" of Providence on
US 41A yesterday. That would be in northwestern Hopkins County. I put south in
quotes because 41A actually goes EAST towards Madisonville, but it would be
considered "south" in the highway system.
I am attempting to find out more info about this report. Provenance of vagrant
magpies is always an issue, but if anyone's in the area you may keep your eyes
peeled. If I can get a more specific location I will forward.
