Are others seeing many Rose-breasted Grosbeaks? I live in a Richmond city neighborhood. This morning I counted 8 females/juveniles and 5 males at one time at my feeders (feeding safflower seed at platform feeder and black oil at tube feeder). Have put up fencing to help protect from neighborhood cats, as well. Just wondered if these numbers were common for all or somewhat unusual. I've seen this many in past years as well over about a two-week period this time in May. Aren't they beautiful? You never know what you will find when you go out for a walk. Went back out to look for them both today, but it looks as if they did not stay around. Also stopped into Spindletop (Lexington) while running errands and found a couple of Bobolinks, a Grasshopper Sparrow and several Solitary Sandpipers.
