Something about atmospheric conditions this morning allowed the Doppler radars to pick up excellent signatures of bird roosts departing night-time roost sites in Kentucky and Tennessee; it won't last long, but if you are at your computer and can pull up the Short Range Loop for Louisville or Paducah (perhaps other sites in region, too), you can see multiple doughnuts move out from at least nine sites on the L'ville radar and five on the Paducah radar, including a likely wader or martin roost down near Dyersburg, TN. Someone like Jeff Wilson who watches these regularly might be able to speculate on the makeup of various roosts, but it is REALLY neat. Try these links for Louisville and Paducah sites (remember if they truncate to reattach them into one long string: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/radar/radar.php?site=klvx&loop=y&type=p19r0 http://www.crh.noaa.gov/radar/radar.php?site=kpah&loop=y&type=p19r0 BPB, Louisville ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== The BIRDKY Mailing List requires you to sign your messages with first & last name, city, & state abbreviation. -------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Kentucky Ornithological Society web site at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison, Richmond, KY E-mail: gary.ritchison@xxxxxxx
