[birdky] Answer to April Photo Quiz

A change in computer programs utilized by the folks
related to the KOS Website resulted in the loss of the
April Photo Quiz page.  A link to the original quiz
photo is attached below.

The correct answer to the April Photo Quiz is female
Rusty Blackbird (Euphagus carolinus).  The
rusty-colored edges to the feathers of the crown,
mantle, upperwing coverts, and tertials contrasting
with the gray lower back and rump and blackish tail
eliminate similar species.  Males are typically
blackish overall with varying amounts of rusty feather
edging.  The habitat is also a clue, with this species
often frequenting wet or swampy areas.

This Rusty Blackbird was photographed on 5 April 2005
at Chaney Lake in Warren County, Kentucky.
