Tom, just saw your new shot, the colors and banding on the disk are stunning.  
Am I right in that this is the first close to edge on we will see soon, and the 
real edge on will occur next year?

A few days ago, Saturn's rings reached their minimum inclination. 
Here's an image of the planet with Titan nearby taken on the morning of
December 30 with my 10-inch scope in Tempe.

The rings will open back up, and will be edge-on while Saturn is behind the
Sun.
