I agree with Jack Groups is the best option I see. We seem to be stuck in a
NIH (Not Invented here) mentality. The moderator of the groups has not
respond to questions or criticisms or proposed why we should stay on
freelists. I can't even find AZ-Observing from the freelists home pages
search for group feature..

mid-February; some good lunar events
You're asking the right questions. There has long been dissatisfaction with
freelists, not just this. We should move all of our maillists of course.
I'm assuming this is free or within our budget like freelists is.

Sorry, I think I am coming into this in the middle of a conversation.
What is it that Jack wants to do? I *think *he wants to move
az-observing, maybe others, from freelists.org to Groups.io?
Which lists are we talking about? I see there are sac-announce,
sac-forum, and sac-board, which I assume we (Paul?) administer. It
looks like az-observing is not a sac run list, or is somehow
different. Do we administer this list?
Are there other interesting options besides Groups.io?
Am I correct in thinking that Paul moderates the existing lists?
What are the issues in moving from freelists to Groups.io or other? I
am not familiar with administration of these things.
What issues would prompt us to move? Apparently attachments can not be
sent through the freelists setup. Is that an option that Paul has set,
or is it a general rule for freelists.org? Are there other issues
needing to be addressed?
I am not attached to either position here - just want to know what we
are addressing and need to research before we come to some decision.

Well that's just plain stupid. HACAstro, the Huachuca Astronomy Club
maillist is now on Groups.io and most of the defunct Yahoo! astro
groups have migrated to Groups.io. What's our problem? Dave and Tom
C., I'd like to request this be addressed at the next board mtg if
not sooner. Let's get with the program.

David,
Unfortunately, the az-observing forum strips all attachments from
messages, irrespective of size. It is what we have used for the
past 20 years, so it's not likely to change.

Even the smaller attached file was too large..
