The occultations are listed and described in the attached .pdf file. Of special
note are two 3rd-magnitude lunar occultations (epsilon Tauri & eta Geminorum)
on Feb. 3rd and 5th, respectively; one of the better lunar grazing occultations
of 2020 (6.4-mag. ZC 523 southern-limit graze on dark side of 61% sunlit Moon)
across the greater Phoenix area (over Surprise, n. Phoenix, & n. Scottsdale)
around 10pm Sunday evening, Feb. 2 (see the attached map, and much more
information about it, and about many other occultations, at
http://iota.jhuapl.edu/AZoccs.htm ;), and a good occultation of Mars (1st mag.)
by the 23% sunlit Moon Tues. morning, Feb. 18 - the reappearance around 5:40am
will be an easy naked-eye event. Earlier that same night will be the
occultation of a 10.9-mag. star by the large asteroid (115) Thyra across
Phoenix, at 3:10am, and even earlier (10:21pm MST of Feb. 17) will be a
possible occultation of a 9.1-mag. star by a sizable Centaur object, #250112, a
RECON campaign event. The AZoccs Web site has not been updated with Wayne
Thomasâ February Rev. A list that he distributed earlier tonight; I will send
a short notice when those are added.
