This is either a really stupid hobby or we just ain't doing it right.
Perhaps by apportioning 12 of your vacation days a year, that would make
once a month that you could go any day you want, Moon permitting, and not be
restricted to this Fri/Sat only limitation, helplessly watching the clouds
roll in at the wrong time. Then a clear moonless social weekend would just
be gravy.

     A fair bit of the Forest land is open where it encompasses rangeland
and chapparal (pinyon/juniper woodlands).  This obviously isn't the
most scenic real estate, but there are still opportunities available.
An example is that the north boundary of the Coconino closure is the
road leading to Slate Mountain about 25 miles northwest of Flagstaff on
the road to Grand Canyon (and a first-rate observing site).
