[AZ-Observing] Re: No. AZ Observing Sites & Forest Closures

(Whoops, apologies, posted onto the wrong thread. That rant was for the "Fri
at Flat Iron" thread.)

Anyway:
There seems to be open non-forest land on the 6 miles past Cherry Rd.
towards Dewey. Has anyone explored further down that road for a site? It's
in a corridor between the two Nat'l Forests.

Jack

A fair bit of the Forest land is open where it encompasses rangeland
and chapparal (pinyon/juniper woodlands). This obviously isn't the
most scenic real estate, but there are still opportunities available.
An example is that the north boundary of the Coconino closure is the
road leading to Slate Mountain about 25 miles northwest of Flagstaff on
the road to Grand Canyon (and a first-rate observing site).
