Peter, The directions to the Hovatter Road Site arte copied below. As yet I haven't been able get there myself so I can't say anything other than it's gotten very good reviews for darkness & seeing from those that have. It's far enough off the freeway to avoid notice and well away from human smuggling routes. It's public land, so have at it. We'd love to have you back as a member, If you're free to join us our next meeting is Friday November 3rd at Grand Canyon University, Fleming Bldg rm 105, at 7:30 p.m. Hope you can make it. If you have any other questions about SAC, please contact me off list at saguaroastro@xxxxxxxx Clear Skies Rick Tejera President Editor SACnews Saguaro Astronomy Club Phoenix, Arizona saguaroastro@xxxxxxx www.saguaroastro.org This site is 100 miles from central Phoenix. Drive west on I-10 to the Hovatter Road exit; that is exit number 53. This is about 40 miles past the Palo Verde nuclear power plant. At the end of the off ramp, turn left over the freeway and drive over the canal and then the road takes a sharp right and the pavement ends at a "dead end" sign. Turn left at the sign and you will be headed directly toward some radio and cell phone antennas. After you pass the antennas the road takes a sharp right and makes its way through a wash or stream gulley; then the road levels off for half a mile before you pass into a second gulley. As soon as you come out of the second gulley the observing site is on your left. It is a large desert pavement that is exactly 2 miles from the I-10 freeway. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Collingwood" <pj67coll@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <az-observing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, October 09, 2006 7:34 PM Subject: [AZ-Observing] Re: Newbie question regarding Hovatter > > Hi folks.
