Comet 2002 V1 (NEAT), which many of us watched pass perihelion in SOHO images, seems to have survived coming within 0.1 AU of the Sun. It's been observed by southern-hemisphere amateurs in the past week fading fast at about mag. 11. It's still well south and only 35 deg from the Sun, so may not be visible from the northern hemisphere. A new orbit and ephemeris are available from the Minor Planet Center: http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/K03/K03E59.html \Brian -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
