"Settling in" Location: Starbase Izar, Uss Avalon Docking Hatch & Assembly area A few hours ago.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The walk from Starbase Izar's brig to the ship's berthing station was short lived, and very quiet. It actually unnerved Victoria, which was not normal for her. She could sense the Captain's feelings towards her new engineer were not that of an impressed person. She didn't need to be a telepath to see body language. The two women approached the small security station at the gangway to the ship, where the ships duty watch officer was standing guard checking people into the ship's registery. "Hello Captain!" he said recognizing Skyler. Skyler gave him a nod as she passed him and headed up the gangway without Victoria, and disappeared. Without a word. Victoria stood there stareing up the gangeway, she could feel the heat burning in her checks already, "What am I suppose to do from here!" she thought. "You must be the black sheep!" the man at the security checkpoint commented yanking her attention away from her current train of thought, as he produced a Padd. "This is for you." He said as he pushed the device toward her. Her facial feature's skewed as she looked towards this person addressing her. "Right!" she said snatching the Padd away from him. "Thanks!" she snapped and started up the gangeway once again. He blinked a moment, before turning toward her. "Your name!" he hollared. "Victoria Ann MacGivern smart guy!" she said as she disappeared around a corner at the apex of the gnageway. He shook his head, wanting to make a retort himself, but he decided to let it be, he knew that this one already had enough going for her. He went about checking the new officer into the ships registery. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: Uss Avalon, Deck 11 - Engineer's Quarters The turbolift doors parted on Deck 11, where her new home would reside. She was somewhat excited about moving into her new place. The last set of quarter's she had were not all that they were cracked up to be. Between Starbase 001, and the transport, this would be great she thought. She looked down at the Padd which gave her a foot path to walk and a room number to look for, she started down the corridor veiring to the right heading for the ships starboard side. She found what she was looking for. Room 225. She stopped and stared at the door a moment, before punching in the default security code, and was admitted to her new home. She stepped into the entry way of the room. It was actually bigger than she expected. She easily made out her work station, and living room set, which seemed to double as a dinning room set, and there were two other doors in the room, one was likely the bathroom, the other was most likely the bedroom. Moving over to the doorway to her bedroom, she walked through the open doorway, and found a very small room, with one dresser, one nightstand, a bed and a closet. "Well, its only for sleeping!" she shrugged, and tossed her bag onto the bed. After about a half hour of unpacking her things, and getting a small bite to eat, she figured she should go check things out. Disposing of trash from her little brunch, she headed for the door, and of course to engineering. "Engineering is where the heart is." She thought as she moved quickly down the corridor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location: Uss Avalon, Deck 11 - Engine Room Victoria's eyes went wide as she got her first glimps into what might be considered her new home, and hobby. It was all brand new, all shiney, missing the duct tape, and superglue. Which always brought a smile to her face. The old joke about things being held together by old products was quiet humerous to her. For the moment, she just stood there and took it all in. The vibrant colors of the warp intermix chamber, and low thrumb of the engine, and the beeping of indicators, and the vibration of the different engineeing systems, it was like the ship was alive around her. For ther, this was being alive again. No more stuffy classrooms, no more idiot classmates. Just her and the job. And it is, what mattered. Instad of a simulator blowing up, it was the real thing. She laughed as that thought passed through her mind. Flowing down a ladder from the upper level, she planted herself in a seat at the master sitaution's console. She took a moment to admire the work done to it. It was more advanced the some of the one's she worked with at the academy, but similar. She could help herself, but to start pulling up schematics, and diagnostic reports. She felt like work was already calling her. And so it began.
