Steve and all,
Call me delusionally optimistic, but I think that things are set to
change
now that MS has real competition: even government departments are
rejecting MS Office -- tired of being bled relentlessly, one presumes --
in favour of Star Office. I really think that MS will be forced to clean
up their act and offer real service and v4m products

Re this link:

Is it just me who is stunned at this brilliant marketing move by MS? Put
out
a browser so full of holes that any self-respecting swiss cheese maker
would
look at it in disgust and ask for some cheese to be present, then sell
your
unsuspecting audience products that attempt to fill these holes.

Quite frankly, I can see the product development now going onto a new
tool
that blocks the holes created by the anti-spyware. Why bother fixing
bugs
when you can sell another product that attempts to address them?

So, the big worry here is when the anti-spyware doesn't sell, MS can
deliberately leave more holes in their next browser release to FORCE you
to
buy their proprietry spyware software to fix these problems. Can't you
just
see the bug reports "BUG: Potentially massive back door left wide open"
"Solution: Advise spyware team they have another problem to address and
don't tell the users anything"

It is just the next logical step on from MS introducing paid support.
Buy
their crap products, when you can't use em, pay them to tell you they
are
broken! Now it is: buy their crap products, when you can't use em, pay
them
to tell you they are broken, and then be advised to ante up for another
product to fix this problem. Which you will have a problem with and so
on
the list goes.

Utterly disgusted,

Steve Hudson
