Hi Robbie and Cliff,
as Robbie has said, you can delete the selected tracks using remove tracks on
the tracks menu.
You can also delete the focussed track by pressing shift + C.

David.

Hi Cliff!
That way you can delete the audio within a track, but the track remains. You
need to select the track by pressing enter and then select Remove Tracks from
the Tracks menu. I record songs as well and I have assigned a short key to
Remove Tracks so I can dump them right away when I’ve made an error. You can do
that in the keybord tab in Preferences.
By the way, pressing home and end will take you to the start and end of the
project, not the track. Within a selected track, press j to go to the start of
the track and k to go to the end.

Cheers, Robbie

Subject: [audacity4blind] Deleting a track

I'm recording some tunes for voice and guitar one track at a time.  The first
problem I encounter is that I start by recording one mono track.  Then when I
go to record another, there are three tracks with the same music on them.  So I
try to delete one of them using the following steps:

1 Use the arrow keys to select the track.
2 Press the Home key to get to the start of the track.
3 Place a [ there, and press Okay on the resulting dialog box.
4 Press the end key to get to the end of the track and place a ] there.
5 At this point the whole thing should be selected so I press the Delete key.
When that fails I try selecting Delete from the Edit menu.  Neither deletes the
audio.

Alternatively, I've tried going to the start of the track, holding down the
shift, going to the end of the track, then trying to delete.  I've tried that
approach forwards and backwards.

Lastly, when I add a single new track to the project two more appear on the
screen.  So it seems I have two problems.  How to delete, and how to add one
track at a time.  What am I doing wrong here?
