To me, it appears that SpaceX has made the understandable strategic error
of trying to move from expendables to reusables by minimally modifying
expendable hardware; there are strong economic arguments for this approach,
so long as no competitor takes the high road. But Blue is developing
vehicles designed to be reusable from scratch; that costs more up front but
promises to--potentially--be much lower cost in the long run.
Per a recent silly thread, if the benefit of reuse is accumulated quickly,
then any two reusable vehicles will have to compete on asset lifetime:
between competing RLV's--and in contrast to an RLV competing with an
ELV--asset lifetime decides which is lower cost.

just barely reusable solution; Blue is going with the cononical design for
high reuse solution. Blue is explicitly using sub-orbital as a test for
orbital. Who wins will matter in the short term...in the long run, Blue's
