I think Greenwing is right- the material is slipping on top of the backing 
while stitching.  Not being a big fan of using anything sticky on our machines, 
I hoop the garment pretty tightly- you can thump it & it won't give, just not 
""tight as a drum" tight.  One more thing- is the presser-foot height at 1 or 
2?  If it's higher, this could be interfering as well.  I use heavy wieght 
tear-away.
