The reason you get an error is cause the OS is an older version and cannot open the newer file. In Design Shop you can open the file you made and save it as a ver 4 design and it will open in OS. This will work til you get your new OS which I assume you got taken care of and is being sent. After spending time waiting on the phone yesterday on hold and recalling today I finally talked to someone at Melco about the problem. He informed me there is a separate upgrade needed for the OS and it should have been sent with the Design Shop upgrade. So....words of warning...don't upgrade one without upgrading the other and if you don't get them both together, call and make sure they have sent both of them.
