The top thread is supposed to rub against the bobbin case. So this is probably
not your issue. Chances are your trimmer assembly needs an adjustment. Loosen
the top screw and ever so gently move the front of the assembly to the right
just a hair. Then tighten the screw.
If you move it too far, the trimmer won't trim correctly.
