John,
There are a great number of things that can damage a PCB Control Board
whether it is in an office computer, TV, Video recorder/player, radio, our
computer controlled automobiles of today, our everyday appliances, washers,
dryers, and the list goes on but, we keep on buying them. The Amaya is no
different. It is controlled by a computer and computerized componets.

I don't know just how much you know about electronics, but just scruff your
feet across the carpet and go touch a control board somewhere and chances
are from the static electical spark that you just generated....you just
zapped the PCB component ( ruined the control board). Oh ....and then there
is the lighting strike damage---the only real way to protect appliances from
those is to have them unplugged from the wall........>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the
list could go, on and on>>>>>>>>>.

I asked the CPU board expert at Melco why there couldn't be a protective
circuit(s) to protect the motherboard some time ago and got a 30 minute
speech on motor phases, resistors, in-line fuses, diodes, electical spiking
and a lot of stuff that was wayyyyy over my head.........so I just have to
resign myself to the fact that they obvisiously know much more about what
they are doing than I do, and if they could do it they would.......
