Dean The problem that you describe is common with the EMC as well as the EMT line of machines. Chances are that the rubber Needle Bar Dampners (Rubber O-ring) on the needles that are not coming down or "engaging" are broken. If the O-rings are broken, and if you can live with a slight clacking noise whenever the machine performs a jump stitch on that needle the fix is simple. Step # 1> Make sure the switch on the thread tension board is on Automatic, (There are three positions for this switch, all the way to the left is On, center is Automatic, and Right is Off). Make sure it is on Automatic. Step # 2> Color change to the first needle that is not coming down. Step # 3> Remove the lower cover on the needle case. The cover has the word MELCO on it and has the numbers 1 thru 10 on the bottom of it running right to left. Step # 4> Inside the needle case, locate the needle bar that you currently have over the needle plate and find the "upper dead stop," it is a black clamp with a 2.5 mm hex screw. Be careful, there are two clamps on each needle bar. One is metallic in color and is used to adjust the depth of the needle. The black clamp is directly above the Metallic clamp. Loosen the black clamp and let is rest on top of the metallic clamp. Step # 5> Press the Menu key until the display shows "Head Timing Menu." Step # 6> Press The Enter Key, the display should read "Head Timing On." NOTE the "Alt" button for the following steps is located below the "Menu" button. Step # 7> Press and hold down the Alt button, with the Alt button held down, press the UP arrow and release both buttons at the same time. The screen should read "Head Up." Step # 8> Press and hold down the Alt button, with the Alt button held down, press the Left arrow and release both buttons at the same time. The screen should read "One Revolution." Step # 9> Press and hold down the Alt button, with the Alt button held down, press the Down arrow and release both buttons at the same time. The screen should read "Needle Depth." Step # 10> Press the Left arrow and UP arrow at the same time and release them at the same time. The screen should read "Top Dead Center." Step # 11> Press down on the Black Clamp that you loosened in step Step #4. You should feel the Needle Bar drop down about 1/8 of an inch or so an also hear a "Click." Step # 12> Slide the Black Clamp up on the Needle Bar until it touches the top of the inside of the Needle Case. Step # 13> Tighten the screw on the Black Clamp. Make sure the clamp is Up as far as it can go and the screw is pointing straight out when you tighten the clamp. That's it! Press the Menu Key and follow these steps for the other needles and you should be good to go! If you have any problems E-mail me directly at HTorbidoni@xxxxxxx Hugo Torbidoni Melco Tech/ EMC,EMT,AMAYA
