I have always cut the loop and put some fraycheck behind so the rest of the stitches don't come out.

I am running a design that has 2 inch high lettering, full block outline. In two spots in the letter "A" there are a couple of big loops on the surface. It has also occurred in two other letters. If I trim on the surface will the entire letter loosen up?
