No. Just go to settings, general, software update. It should show up there if you have an i'phone 4 or later.

Thanks

Hi,

I m certainly not sitting in an ivory tower. I'm just being pragmatic. I was just telling you the facts of economic life. I never said it was fair, right, or just. As a person who grew up watching my mother working as a waitress in a diner for less than a livable wage, and then spend 5 days a week taking care of rich peoples children around the clock, sacrificing time with her own kids because it was the honest to god best she could do at the time, I know the value of money. I find it funny that you, a person who has no idea of my background, or economic status are accusing me of anything. lol. For all you know, I could be your neighbor. Being Jamaican, I know very well the relative exchange rates found in the West Indies thank you very much. But the fact still remains. Owning an iPhone isn't your god given right. I would like to live in a mansion but you know what? I can't afford it. I have come to grips with this, and have moved on. I'm fortunate enough to afford an iPhone, and the ecosystem that comes with it. If I couldn't, guess what? I would move on. I would find an alternative I could afford to maintain. So please, spare me your circumstances. It's a phone. 5 years ago, none of us were using iPhones and we managed to get by. So I can't make my heart bleed for those who can't afford to maintain an iPhone. It's not food, shelter, or medicine
after all.

Hello,

Yes. They are. And it effects so few of their customers, they don't
care.
Because the sad but true fact is, they don't want people with 0
balances in their checking accounts or maxed out credit cards. And like I said earlier, if you can't manage to have $1 in your account, you
have way bigger issues
than being able to update an app on your phone. So like you said
"welcome
to the real world."

For the record, is it good customer service? Of course not. But, when you buy a premium product, you often have to deal with stuff like this. Like someone mentioned earlier, if you can afford to buy a
sports car, your probably not worrying about the price of gas.

Hi,

If this is indeed the case, wouldn't just having $1 on what ever
method of
payment your using gain access to all the stuff you said you were being denied access to? If this is so, I don't see how having $1 on a form of payment is unreasonable. I figure if this is your last dollar to your name, you probably have way bigger issues than getting
free apps
for your iPhone.

Folks, I hate to say this, but what Apple's doing is just not that unreasonable. As many have pointed out, if you don't have a credit or debit card, buy a gift card and set up your account. You can get a gift card for $10, that's just not that much money. Once you've done that, you can do whatever upgrading and purchasing of free apps you need to do. I'm sorry, but I'm blind and I've worked my whole ****** life. Right now I'm working a job that I hate, but at least it's a job. If you're on a fixed income, maybe start thinking about
how to
change that.

Sorry if this is bitchy, but I see no reason *at *all why someone
who is
blind has to be on a fixed income.

The problem is that many disabled people are on fixed incomes.
For
example, I run out of money long before the month is through. I
should still be able to get free apps, download apps I already
purchased but are not currently on my device, and schedule genius bar
appointments.
Without money, I have no access to even change the password on the lock screen because the Apple password is essentially broken until
their
or is money available.
Buying a gift card to leave money on is essentially the same as
requiring a deposit, a bad move on Apple's part imo.
And please don't lecture me on budgeting. I get $700 each month
and
somehow don't qualify for food stamps.
