It's not just 'kind of true'. It's absolutely true.I have thought of writing a Windows service app which will run on the PC and detect when an NVDA pen is plugged in. But there's not point, Because NVDA costs nothing you could install it on a thousand PCs for about the same cost of one Jaws licence.

Hi, This is kind of true. Acapela have a copy of NVDA on a memory stick that run with their voices. You have to press enter when the autorun dialog comes up but it will start after that. Even the commercial screen-readers rely on a service running on the PC to start the reader. Supernova has the Dolphiin autostart service and Jaws has another version of the same thing. I found a lot on google but I don't know what is safe. I am trying to help a friend who helps other people with their pc's but doesn't have jaws portable.
