My apologies. On stock android, in settings, under the "wireless and networks" heading, tap on "more". Then "tethering and portable hotspot", then configure it and enable. Connect your computer to the hotspot [consult the OS manual for more help].

FMI, does anyone know why this message's headers seem to indicate it's supposed to be another language?

Hi,

Actually it is Settings, then immediately near the top of the screen, there is a More option. This is for Wifi and data networks. That's where you'll find it. There isn't a connectivity setting as such.

All the best

Steve

On android, in settings, under connectivity [or something of that description, there is a "more" option. In there is a "tethering and portable hotspot" feature, which you should be able to use.

    Hi Adrian.

I cant see why this isn't on topic for the list, so my reply is
posted here for the benefit of all.

Firstly, we need to know which phone your friend has. If its an
IPhone then they can use the personal hotspot feature to connect
to the internet via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a wired USB connection. This is assuming that your friend has a phone package which allows
tethering and the personal hotspot feature hasn't been disabled by
the network provider. I'm not to sure on Android, could someone
    else contribute here?

    All the best, Ibrahim.

    Hi

My friend recently had no internet or telephone services for
2 days because of a fault with the exchange. I thought as a
back up, he could perhaps connect his mobile to his pc for
mobile access, what is the best way of achieving this? I
know there probably pros and cons. Perhaps you could contact
me off list as it probably is off topic.

    Regards

    Adrien
