Hi Adrien,

Yes, your contract should just roll over on a month-to-month basis once the
term is up.

However, you can get a pay as you go dongle with no contract and no monthly
fee, meaning you only pay when you use it.

Your friend might find it useful as it has the advantage of not needing a
certain type of mobile phone or tethering allowance on your phone contract,
but can get expensive depending on what they want to do online and how long
their main Internet connection might be down.

Cheers,

Ed

Adrien

Hi Adrien,

If your friend doesn't have a phone that can tether or a tariff that allows
tethering, another option might be a pay as you go Internet mobile broadband
stick/dongle. Your friend would just put this into their USB port and have
Internet access. This could potentially get expensive depending on how long
their Internet is down for, but may be cheaper than paying for tethering if
they don't already have one.

Cheers,

Ed

Hi Adrian.

I cant see why this isn't on topic for the list, so my reply is posted here
for the benefit of all.

Firstly, we need to know which phone your friend has. If its an IPhone then
they can use the personal hotspot feature to connect to the internet via
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a wired USB connection. This is assuming that your
friend has a phone package which allows tethering and the personal hotspot
feature hasn't been disabled by the network provider. I'm not to sure on
Android, could someone else contribute here?

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi

My friend recently had no internet or telephone services for
2 days because of a fault with the exchange. I thought as a back up, he
could perhaps connect his mobile to his pc for mobile access, what is the
best way of achieving this? I know there probably pros and cons. Perhaps you
could contact me off list as it probably is off topic.

Regards

Adrien
