George, that is another reason, why not to pay £132 to BT.

Hi Billy,

Given what you say here, a BT engineer will only tack cables
round skirting boards, door frames, etc., making the usual
untidy mess.

George.

Adrian, I too thought of an extension cable, but my good
lady wife, didn't want long lengths of telephone cables
running between rooms. Not only that, one of the rooms the
cabling would have to go through, has tile flooring, no go
right away.

The alternative is of course to buy an extension cable
rather than a box
that needs to be wired up and fixed to the wall. Such
simply have a
plug on one end and a socket on the other. Not quite as
neat but much
easier. I used one for a temporary location recently which
was an ultra
flat cable, the wire part being of a lower profile than
standard
telephone type. About 2 mil thing and 4 or 5 wide.
And still cost less than a tener.

Hi Billy,

Probably, but you need to know the colours of the 2, 3 or
4 tiny wires
in the cable and the numbers of the push-down sockets in
the box. You
will also need a push-down tool, but they are only a few
pence. Given
that you might not be able to do the job without sighted
help, you might

as well get a vision to do it for you!
