My point exactly. It is a breech of trust and I personally would not like it if Emails I sent in a professional capacity were published on the Internet without my giving permission.

Another point to add to this also. I don't want this to be taken the wrong way but I've been following this thread both on this list and the BCAB list and your arguments/complaints seem justified and I hope you try to get it sorted. My point is that I was reading various E-mails from you to your tutor and then from your tutor back to you, are you sure this doesn't break any privacy agreements as they were sent to you personally. Remember these posts may appear on Google or some other search engine at some point in the future and you may regret it and your tutor might not like the fact that you left his name at the end. You did the same with the publishers responce also but I doubt they'll mind as their's was a positive responce.

Hi Eleanor

I don't think you should be too paranoid over this. Your tutor I am sure did not get his Email removed because he wants to exert his power over disabled students. We really do have to get away from this persecution complex. Sometimes we see discrimination when it does not exist. I think perhaps if you had wanted to publish what was a private Email then you should have asked for his consent first. After all, he replied to you in person, it is reasonable to assume that he did not expect his comments to be publically available for all to see. It would have only been a common courtesy for you to ask him for his permission before publishing his reply.

Patricia and Others you may be interested in the following. I posted the e-mail from the publishers re the availability of the electronic text book for my course. The publishers suggested that my tutor might contact them on my behalf or Librarian etc. Anyway I wanted other students who were without the text to know of its availability. I had also posted my tutor's response to me which did not go down well at all. Note, as in this e-mail I did not put up his name but left where he had signed himself as Glen. First of all I was surprised that he had access to the students' forum. Anyway he got my posting removed such is the power of tutors over disabled students. this landed in my Inbox last night.

Eleanor,

I have seen a conference posting by you pasting my response to your latest
email.
I do not see why you found the need to put this on the conference. It
identifies me by reference to "tutor"
If I cannot be confident that emails will not be publicised then I will
not feel obliged to respond to any further.

Having done all I can for you Eleanor I am most disappointed at your
actions here.

As ever

Glen

There then went up a notice on the students' forum which reads as follows:
Hi All,
I have unapproved the two messages sent by Eleanor as they appear to contravene the CoC in that they contain copies of messages from a third party without permission. I'd like to remind everyone not to copy or quote from
those messages if you have access to them.
 Cheers :

That is a disgrace in my opinion. There was nothing said by me that should not be said and what was said was simply said in the e-mails from Sweet and Maxwell and my tutor to me after reading the notice. I did not comment on what he had said at all, simply left the readers to draw their own conclusions. The named person to whom he Cc the e-mail is the Chair of the law programme at the Open University. If anyone feels like writing to this person on my behalf then please do. I feel my Human Rights and Freedom of Speech were curtailled here.

 Many thanks.

 Eleanor
